Alex Update

We received another great update on our little guy. I copied and pasted below but I don't know why it is underlined and blue but anyway.....
Alex sounds like such a great little boy. We are still in IBESR the first of several steps. This is moving so slowly but we are praying it will start to move a little faster.
It’s been an amazing month! We’ve had seven families come to GLA to pick up their kids this month, and three visited to file their US I-600 papers. It’s been a blessing to see families come together and to know that eventually each and every one of these kids will have that happy ending! It is a joy to be able to share a little bit about how Alex is doing.

Alex is currently working on potty training and seems a lot happier than the other boys that are learning along with him. When Alex is put on his potty he sits quietly talking to himself, singing or playing with toys. He usually sits five to six times a day and is not wearing a diaper when outside playing or when he is in his room playing. Alex does however need a diaper when in school, during nap time and at night. Alex knows to go to his nanny when he needs to go in to the bathroom and he has been doing well at letting them know however there have been a few recent accidents in the yard.

Alex is using 2 to 3 word sentences and has a vocabulary of about 50 words. Alex tends to speak quieter than his friends and is much more comfortable speaking to a child than an adult. Alex can tell you his name when asked, and will point at toys, objects in his room, his roommates and nannies and some a few animals he has seen. Alex brushes his teeth on his own and can help get himself dressed. He can walk up and down stairs without problems and can jump up and down without falling.

Alex loves our outdoor toys and is often found belly down on the skateboard. He pushes off with his hands and flies through the yard trying to dodge the seventy other children in the yard. Alex also really enjoys our tricycles and sits on the seat and pushes them with his toes or has a friend of his push him around.

For snack at 3:30 p.m. Our kids have cookies. Some of the little kids like to just take the wrappers when they are finished and throw them on the ground. A few days ago there were several wrappers in the yard all within ten feet of each other. Without anyone saying anything Alex got up from what he was doing and picked up each and every wrapper until both hands were so full he couldn’t fit anymore into his hands. He walked around for a little bit with them in his hands as if wondering what to do with them and finally decided the easiest thing was to hand them off to someone else and take off to play again.
