So lately in our house the big discipline tactic we have been using is earning and losing pennies. This has worked really well with Hailey especially. If she talks badly or doesn't listen or whatever she loses a penny. But if she does something really good or helpful or kind she may earn a penny. We did explain that every good deed wouldn't result in a penny (sometimes just feeling good in your heart is enough) and if she did something and asked for a penny she wouldn't get it either. Well she decided her reward this time would be to have a sleep-over. So after earning 20 pennies (it took a couple weeks) she got to have Mckenna spend the night. This was very exciting for both of them but a little nerve-racking for me as I was worried they would stay up all night. ( A cute side note...I mentioned to McKenna that Hailey was trying to earn 20 pennies so she could come over and McKenna told me that she already had that many pennies and she could just give them to me.)
Well I shouldn't have worried....everything went amazingly well. The girls played and played. They also made books. Then we all made brownie bites. After that we had dinner and then went and rented some movies. We came back and made Ice-cream Sundaes with sprinkles and some taffy that McKenna brought and then the girls watched a movie and almost fell asleep. They went to bed after the movie, chatted for a couple minutes and fell asleep. The only catastrophe was when Gracie jumped on McKenna in the night scaring her half to death. All in all it was a great time. They all played so well and even included Karis in lots of the fun. I told them they were so good that we could definitely do it again.

Yes, I thought you were very brave to have a sleep-over for 5-year olds! Cute pictures and it looks like a lot of fun.
So fun!!!
