Sunday Adventure

So we skipped church yesterday (gasp). But we thought it would be fun to just have a family day with the girls. We love church and our church is really family friendly which is very important to us but try as we might sitting in the service with the girls just doesn't seem to work yet. However we plan to keep trying because we think family-centered worship/church is so important for our girl's spiritual journey. (However the last time we tried it Karis ran up the aisle, Hailey spilled snacks, and Avery entertained all of those around her with her dancing.) We plan to try every couple of months and as they get older it should get better...because I do see lots of kids sitting and listening so I know it is possible! Anyway...all this to say sometimes I feel like we just all go our separate ways at church (the girls have awesome sunday school classes that they love)

so we thought it would be nice every once in awhile to do our own family church.

So yesterday we got the girls up and started by

renacting a Bible story. So we decided to do the story of the widow who needed money so she went to Elisha who told her to fill up her oil jars and it wouldn't go empty. So I went in the bedroom with the girls and Scott came and pounded on the door saying he needed money. And this is where it ended....Karis went hysterical....we kept telling her it was just pretend- well not really because it was true- but not true for us- it happened many, many years ago.

We tried to go on....Scott even went upstairs and dressed in sheet like Elisha....we came up the stairs but Karis was sobbing so loudly that I think she missed the point. We even went back into the kitchen and filled jars with water. Hailey was really into it and Gracie was wagging her tail and running around and Avery just stared with her big blue eyes.

After that we loaded up the car and went to Starbucks and then off for a little drive that ended in Cle Elum at the playland at Burger King. It was a fun morning! We did sing old Sunday School songs in the car too...I taught them ones from my childhood and they loved it!
